Therapeutic Perspective

As a therapist, I respect deeply your decision to enter into treatment with me, and honor that commitment to self-exploration with empathy, honesty, and curiosity. I believe it is through relationships that we get to know ourselves, which is why therapy has to be, at its core, a trusting, collaborative relationship. In this context, we can carve out space for you to express yourself most freely, and to be more at ease in yourself, your relationships, and your life.

My approach is strengths-based, and most deeply informed by psychodynamic modalities. I believe that our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions communicate—sometimes in ways that are not immediately obvious. It will enrich your life with greater self-understanding and agency if together we can learn to be curious, rather than judgmental, and to respect these communications from your inner self.

About Me

I am a master Social Worker working toward licensure under supervision at Heartwork. I am certified by the Emory Psychoanalytic Institute for having completed their Core Program, and I have experience and training in Marriage and Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Attachment-based modalities. I believe you—the client—are expert on your own experience, and I seek to tailor our work together to your personal goals and needs. I have experience working with adults, children, adolescents, and families experiencing: trauma, domestic violence, foster care, relationship difficulties, psychotic disorders, depression, anxiety, cultural marginalization, parenting challenges, personality disorders, dysregulation, suicidal thoughts, life transitions, attachment difficulties, college and professional struggles, and economic hardship.

I practice culturally-responsive psychotherapy, and am committed to my ongoing development in the service of clients. I look forward to working with children, adolescents, and adults of any background, race, culture, socio-economic status, sexual identity, gender expression, ability, experience, and diagnosis, who are interested and able to undertake a process of in-depth self-exploration.

As a social worker, I adhere to the National Association of Social Work’s code of ethics: https://www.socialworkers.org/About/Ethics/Code-of-Ethics/Code-of-Ethics-English.
